Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to French Connections. This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent, which you give or decline through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer.

2. What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work or function more efficiently, as well as to provide information to website owners.

3. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories:

  • Essential: Required for the site to work and to remember the choice you make in the cookie banner. These do not require consent and are always on.
  • Analytics: Our traffic statistics run on Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and stores no personal data: it sets nothing on your device. The Analytics consent category covers any future cookie-based analytics tools; none are in use today.
  • Advertising: With your consent, we use Google (Google Ads, via Google Tag Manager) and Meta (the Meta Pixel) to measure whether our advertising works and to reach people planning a move to France. These providers set the cookies listed in section 4 and receive data about your visit under their own privacy policies.

4. Advertising Cookies We Use

The following cookies are set only after you grant Advertising consent:

  • _gcl_au (Google Ads): stores the ad click that brought you to the site so a later enquiry can be attributed to it. Lasts 3 months.
  • _gcl_aw (Google Ads): holds the Google click identifier (gclid) for conversion measurement. Lasts 90 days.
  • _fbp (Meta Pixel): distinguishes your browser for ad measurement. Lasts 3 months.
  • _fbc (Meta Pixel): holds the Meta click identifier (fbclid) when you arrive from a Meta ad. Lasts 3 months.

If you decline or withdraw Advertising consent, these cookies are not set. Google may still receive anonymous, cookieless signals used in aggregate to model campaign performance; these do not identify you.

5. Types of Cookies We Use

  • Session Cookies: These cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a longer period, even after you close your browser, until you or your browser deletes them.

6. Cookie Management

The “Cookie Settings” link in the footer reopens the consent banner at any time, where you can change or withdraw your choice for each category. Withdrawing Advertising consent also deletes the campaign data stored in your browser. You can additionally manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may impact the functionality of our website.

7. Updates to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please check this page periodically for updates.
